Creative Writing • Script Writing • Journalism
“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one.” – C.S. Lewis.
Whether writing for clients or myself, fictional or factual, I aim to put heart into every piece.
To me, finding commonalities that connect us as humans is what differentiates good writing from impactful writing.
Growing up in a predominantly white neighbourhood in an Ontario suburbia, commonality was something I often longed for. Perpetually living under the category as “Other” often left me questioning my own abilities, particularly as a writer.
Writing articles and scripts for various news outlets technically trained me to write with precision and intent. However, it wasn’t until I began to find my community, that I truly felt like I found my written voice.
Something I tell my students at the beginning of any workshop is that their voice is valid. We often let spelling, grammar and societally imposed standards silence some of the most creative minds. Seeing these students’ confidence grow as writers, writing more authentically and unapologetically each week, is the most rewarding feeling I’ve felt in my career thus far.
This is why a lot of my personal creative writing centres around themes of inner-healing and self acceptance. I hope my work creates space for other “Others” to see themselves and feel more comfortable in who they are and everything they have to offer.
Blue Door - What is Hope Campaign
Summary:
As part of Blue Door’s Giving Tuesday campaign, SenovvA Canada was commissioned to create a video that underscored the unparalleled and necessary work Blue Door does to support vulnerable individuals living in York Region.
Sourcing previously recorded footage to exemplify all of Blue Door’s remarkable programs, I wrote the voiceover for this piece, centering the script around the organization’s campaign message of “Bringing hope together.”
CBC Kids News - Profile - Guinness World Record Hula Hooper

One of the highlights of my time at CBC Kids News was having the opportunity to write profile pieces that showcased the achievements of extraordinary youth across Canada.
Seeing their passion and dedication to their respective crafts was an inspiring and humbling privilege. I wrote this article about Mamathi, a 9-year-old Guinness World Record holder and her dreams of taking her hula hooping skills to new heights.
